Our May coloring contest is here! Send your entry to 50 West Main Street, Hyrum, UT 84319, museum@hyrumcity.gov, or bring it in person during our open hours (Tuesday – Thursday from 10AM to 4PM). Coloring pages are also available to pick up at the Museum. Don’t forget to include your name, age, and address to collect your prize!Join us for our May Back-in-Time Children’s Activity, “Utah in 1776” on May 19, 20, & 21, at 1pm each day. This month we will continue our commemoration of the semiquincentennial by exploring Utah in 1776! Come learn all about the Dominguez-Escalante Expedition and the Spanish explorers who created the first non-Native-produced documents about Utah’s landscape (in 1776). Sign-up is encouraged, so visit, call (435-245-0208), or email (teresa.ostermiller@hyrumcity.gov) to let us know you’re coming. Programming is the same each day, you can attend either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. All museum events are free and open to everyone! This is our last Back-in-Time of the 2025-2026 school year, but don’t forget to join us for our Passport to Summer Fun, which kicks off at Hot Wheels in Hyrum on Saturday, June 6!Our May Super Saturday event is our “Memorial Weekend Open House” Join us from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 23, for your last chance to experience the traveling exhibit “Bringing War Home: Object Stories, Memory, & Modern War.” The exhibit is accompanied by many wonderful artifacts that local veteran John A. Petersen brought home from Japan during his service in the U. S. Navy during the Cold War. We will offer a special family art activity based on the exhibit throughout the day. There will be several awesome food vendors including Rollin’ West BBQ, JK Old Fashioned Soda, Papi Juan Caribbean Food, Texas Twister, Honey Marie’s Barbecue, Pita Works Grill, and Potholes, plus amazing vehicles, great music, and fantastic prizes! Visit the museum starting May 26th to get one free prize drawing ticket per person. We will also launch our summer-long children’s activity, Passport to Summer Fun with new adventures, projects, and drop-in activities so visit the museum tent to get your passport and special event-specific stamp! We’ll also offer an awesome free scavenger hunt with prizes this year!
