Our final free family movie night of the season is on Friday, March 6, at Elite Hall! Doors open at 6:30, movie begins at 7pm. Wear your comfy clothes, bring your favorite treats or dinner, and don’t forget your blankets, pillows, camp chairs, etc. This is a free public event and a great chance to watch fun movies on a big screen with a sound system on the historic spring-loaded dance floor of Elite Hall!Join us for our March Back-in-Time Children’s Activity, “Abigail, an American Influencer” on March 17, 18, & 19 at 1pm each day. This month we will continue our commemoration of the semiquincentennial by exploring the roles women played during the American Revolution! Come learn how Abigail Adams’s acted as an advisor to her husband, future president John Adams. We’ll discuss the impact her writing had on the founding of our country and do a cool writing and art activity to celebrate. Programming is the same each day, you can attend either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. All museum events are free and open to everyone! Our March Super Saturday event is “Daughters of Liberty.” Join us from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, to explore the clever and important ways women supported the fight for independence 250 years ago. Hyrum City Museum events are free and open to all!Our March coloring contest is here! Send your entry to 50 West Main Street, Hyrum, UT 84319, museum@hyrumcity.gov, or bring it in person during our open hours (Tuesday – Thursday from 10AM to 4PM). Coloring pages are also available to pick up at the Museum or download from our website. Don’t forget to include your name, age, and address to collect your prize!We are planning a mural! And we want community input on the design! Submission are due on March 20! The Hyrum City Museum is excited to collect community input for a new mural in our alleyway freight entrance! Visitors are invited to submit artwork on the attached form (don’t forget there is a second page, designed to scale with the walls of the alley). Forms can be picked up at the museum or accessed at the link below Community submissions are due by 5pm on Friday, March 20. They can be turned in at the museum, or submitted via email to teresa.ostermiller@hyrumcity.gov. Stay tuned for more information about our final designs and a fun mural-painting community event to be held in early summer!As we move into 2026 and America’s Semiquincentennial year, we are looking back at historic bicentennials! We are hosting “Utah Celebrates the Bicentennial” in our Community Exhibit cases and invite all community members to display objects they have from the national 1976 Bicentennial commemoration. Please contact museum staff if you have an item you would like to loan for this exhibit. We are also excited to host a special exhibit in partnership with the Cache Valley Rendezvous Club to commemorate 200 years since Cache Valley’s first rendezvous in 1826. Note: the museum will be closed the entire week of March 10-12 while museum staff work on internal projects.
